Someone close to me - who shall remain anonymous - is showing signs of making a transition. This person is a big consumer. Always out spending money on the latest gadgets, clothes, shoes, bags, make up, furniture, sports equipment, household items, enough food to feed an army etc etc.
But last night she told me, that her and hubby had been talking about the need to be more self-sufficient. Apparently they will be growing their own veg, and have talked about the possibility in the future, of needing to get some land to grow their own veg. They've been talking about how they could survive on less money, with less things. We had a conversation about the countries food security. We also talked about the fact that their is little resilience in local communities anymore, and how easily (frighteningly) the country could be bought to its knees. Etc.
I was quite taken back by the depth of the conversation.
Converted perhaps? On her way at least.
And I'm so excited about us transitioning together.

That's good news. I think more people are starting to realise the sense of this sort of thing as money gets tighter.
We joined a local community garden scheme recently and will be growing our own veg soon. It's an exciting prospect.
