Despite how difficult I am finding it, or rather how lazy I am being with regards to ditching the car and walking or cycling to work, I am actually doing very well at the weekends. Yesterday was another example.
I thought about what I wanted to achieve yesterday, which had I visited the shops I normally choose would involve taking the car. So I re-thought it, and identified shops more locally that I could get to on foot, and did this instead. I even carried a foot stool that I bought about quarter of a mile home! When it came to the time that I needed to go to town, I jumped on a bus.
And this might sound daft, but catching a bus to town makes me feel liberated. It's perculiar I know, but I feel so much more free when I jump on and off a bus, than when I have to worry about parking, traffic etc. And I feel so pleased with myself, for opting for a greener method of travel. I might not ever drive to town again!
And today will be another day without the car. Wearing the new walking shoes that I purchased yesterday, I will be walking to my meeting this evening too.
In fact most weekends now, unless I am travelling across country to see family, I am not using the car at all.

Well done, that's great! Because of our fairly remote location the car is virtually essential, so we combine journeys as much as possible. That's the best we can manage.
